In two days, all roads will lead to Koronadal City as more than 40 individuals have already signified attendance for CINEMATICA, a two-day workshop on photography, lighting and post-processing with facilitators from Manila- Cinematica masters Ku Manahan and Parc Cruz.

CINEMATICA  is  open to photography professionals , amateurs, hobbyists, and enthusiasts who desire artistic growth by pursuing their passion for photography. Workshop registration is at Php 5,000.00 inclusive of  lunch & snacks . Below is the course outline  and requirements.

The South Cotabato provincial government and volunteer doctors, surgeons and nurses from the Maharlika Charity Foundation, Inc. from Davao City are now conducting a surgical mission at the South Cotabato Gymnasium and Cultural Center.

Maharlika Charity Foundation, Inc is a non-stock, non-profit charity foundation which renders services to the marginalized and indigenous population of Mindanao, this year they have forged partnership with the leadership of South Cotabato Governor Arthur Y. Pingoy, Jr. who is also a medical doctor by profession to provide free health care and surgical services to the poor and needy  patients in the Province of South Cotabato.

The surgical mission which started last Sunday, September 25, 2011 have already treated hundreds of poor patients coming from far-flung villages in South Cotabato suffering from eye defects like  cataract (including pterygium), strabismus or 'crossed eyes', hernia among children, cleft palate and minor cysts. Aside from the free cost of surgery, the patients were also provided free medicines, foods and free transportation by the provincial government of South Cotabato.

The surgical mission at the South Cotabato Gym will run until Thursday, September 29, 2011. It is also made possible with the help of the members of Koronadal Lodge 209 and the SOCSARGEN Gamefowl Breeders Association.

Last September 17, 2011 members of SOCCSKSARGEN Bloggers visited Tacurong City to witness the city's Talakudong Festival 2011 and  11th Charter Anniversary celebrations.

The group composed of Avel Manansala, Nanardxz, Ariel Lalisan, Arzeriel Garcera and Laurence Erojo who came all the way from General Santos City were greeted by the large fountain upon arriving at the city hall of Tacurong City. The group then meet up with fellow Sox bloggers from Tacurong- Joy Villareal and Doc Remo Aguilar who had joined forces in arranging the itinerary for the group's stay in the city of goodwill.

The group then pays a courtesy call to Tacurong City Mayor Lina Montilla, where a short discussion about tourism potentials of the city and promotions using social media and current issues involving the city were discussed. Hon. Mayor Lina Montilla was very open and welcoming as the group raised some suggestions with regards to tourism and promotions of the city especially with the use of the internet. She also announced that she had already arranged the group’s accommodation at LILLIPUTIAN, the mini-hotel inside the Sultan Kudarat State University which is also used as HRM Lab by the students.

For dinner, Doc Remo and Joy took the group to a hito overload at VE-JR Ihaw-Ihaw sa Exit, a popular restaurant in Tacurong City where the best deep-fried Hito (catfish) and chicharong tilapia is a specialty and served at a very affordable price.

The next day the group walked early to the main streets of Tacurong City to witness firsthand the Talakudong Street Dancing competition where 5 groups competed. It was followed by the field demonstration at the city hall grounds. (see results here) For lunch, the group headed to the city mayor’s office at the 3rd floor of the city hall building where Mayor Lina Montilla and her staff have prepared a sumptuous feast  for their guests and visitors. The group then toured at the Baras Bird Sanctuary, a home to the more than 10,000 migratory birds including herons and egrets. A must-visit for all bird lovers.

A quick tour at St. Louis Hospital then followed, it was facilitated by Doc Remo who is also the Chief of Clinics. St. Louis Hospital is the biggest and most modern medical facility in Tacurong City.

A treat of buko halo-halo and bihon guisado by Doc Remo and Joy Villareal at Mang Gorio Bahay Kainan located at JC Avenue was a perfect treat to end the day and the SOCCSKSARGEN Blogger’s visit in Tacurong City, the City of Goodwill.

With the theme: “Unity in Business towards Globalization”, the City of Koronadal, the center of political, cultural and socio-economic activities in the province of South Cotabato is set to celebrate the 1st Negosyo Festival, in line with Koronadal City’s 11th Charter Anniversary celebration  this coming October 1-8, 2011.

On October 1, a fun run which will be participated by different sectors in the city including local officials, local government employees, students and others will be held to kick-off the week-long celebration.

Congratulations to the College of Engineering and Technology of Notre Dame of Marbel University (NDMU) for garnering a whooping 100 percent passing rate in the recently concluded Electrical Engineer Board Exam given by the Board of Electrical Engineering last September 10 and 11 in the cities of Manila, Baguio, Cebu and Davao.

The national passing rate for the September 2011 Electrical Engineer Board Exam is 58.02% or 1,519 out of 2,608 successfully passed. Eleven (11) of them from NDMU!

Tacurong City's major streets and the show grounds at the city hall compound were all filled earlier with Tacurongnons and visitors coming from different places in the country for the culmination of the Talakudong Festival 2011  and the 11th foundation anniversary of the city.

Five teams of street dancers coming from different schools and districts within Tacurong City entertained the crowds with their re-enactment of the story on how the city got its name through rhythmic and exotic exhibition of colorful headgears that is indigenously made out of local materials.

The ONE YOUNG MINDANAO, an advocacy-driven organization on youth leadership and empowerment, is built on the fundamental idea that we have to prepare and engage the youth of Mindanao to be able to create genuine progress and this begins by promoting powerful leadership paradigms. 

Our objective in OYM is to develop a community of Mindanao youth champions particularly among young leaders, students and out of school youth (OSYs). To date, we have already reached more that 20,000 students across the different parts of Mindanao with our empowerment caravan and have also succeeded in creating civil society partnerships, regularly conducted community driven initiatives and facilitated scholarship opportunities for OSYs. 

This year, we embark on another milestone as we organize the 1st One Young Mindanao Leadership Summit this October 10-12 at the South Cotabato Gymnasium, City of Koronadal,  South Cotabato.

There are four major activities in the summit: First is the Walk for Education – a symbolic unity walk in the streets of Koronadal to promote greater consciousness on the importance of education. Second is the Leadership Session – a 1-day plenary event which will feature motivational speakers to talk about fundamental leadership concepts to inspire the participants to master their leadership potentials. Third is the OYM Facilitators Training, a 2-day workshop which will seek to train potential facilitators of modules which is delivered in our empowerment caravan and other events. Finally, we will have the OYM Leadership Expedition which will expose the participants to cultural T’boli communities for community engagement.

The participants will be paying a registration fee of P350 for the Leadership Session(Day 1) / P2500 (live-out) for participants attending the OYM Facilitators Training /P3000 for participants attending the OYM Leadership Expedition. Lembohung Festival is usually celebrated during the month of December but was recently moved by the local government of Surallah to September, it comes from the two T'boli words, "lem" which means "within" and "buhong" a pineapple-like ornamental plant with white flowers within its leaves that grows abundantly in the area which the natives called lembohung now known as Barangay Libertad.

Lembohung Festival aims to sustain the preservation, promotion and development of arts, culture and tradition of the original inhabitants in the town of Surallah which are the Tagabili tribe.
