With the filing of the certificate of candidacies (COC) barely two weeks away, three names of confirmed and possible contenders are floated to run for governor in the province of South Cotabato in the May 2013 elections.
Joining a former city mayor are the two top officials of the province of South Cotabato. According to a source, both incumbent governor Arthur Y. Pingoy, Jr. and representative of the 2nd district Daisy Avance-Fuentes had confirmed their intention to contend the South Cotabato gubernatorial election next year, joining former Koronadal City Mayor Fernando Q. Miguel who already declared to run for governor as early as July.

Fuentes, who won the congressional seat for the 2nd district last 2010 elections is seeking again the office she held for three straight terms (2001-2010). Meanwhile Pingoy seeks reelection for the post he had just won in the last election after serving the 2nd district as congressman for also three straight terms. Miguel is said to run again after losing to Pingoy in the last 2010 elections.
