A week-long celebration with various activities has been lined-up by the municipal government of Surallah in connection with its 51st founding anniversary.
The celebration will begin on June 17 with a Diana, Zumba, Araw ng mga Hari ng Kalsada, Mayor's Night and Basketball Championship.The following day, June 18, the hardworking farmers from different barangays of Surallah will be gathered and honored through different activities of the "Farmer's Day" and ABC Night in the evening.
On June 19, Surallahnons will be entertained by singer-actress Nikki Gil in a concert to be held at the municipal gym. There will be a job fair and acrobatic show on June 20 and the much awaited coronation night for the Search for Mutya ng Surallah 2014 will be held in the evening of June 21.
On June 22, the foundation day of the Municipality of Surallah, a thanksgiving mass will be held in the morning to be followed by a civic and thematic parade and the anniversary program. Different elementary and secondary schools will also compete in the Drum and Lyre Competition. The celebration will continue in the evening with the Battle of the Bands, fireworks display and "Disco sa Kalye."
The Municipality of Surallah was created by virtue of Republic Act 3120 on June 18, 1961 as later on amended by RA 3664 on June 22, 1963.
Today, Surallah as an alternate Provincial Agri-industrial Center, is one of the most progressive towns of South Cotabato.
