Sangguniang Panlalawigan of South Cotabato approves “Firecrackers and Pyrotechnic Ordinance”

Firecrackers and Pyrotechnic Ordinance South Cotabato

Few days before the New Year's Eve celebration, the Sangguniang Panlalawigan in the Province of South Cotabato has finally approved on its third and final reading Ordinance No. 42 entitled, “An ordinance regulating the manufacture, sale, distribution, possession or use of firecrackers and pyrotechnic devices within the territorial jurisdiction of South Cotabato and providing penalties for violations thereof”, the provincial website of South Cotabato reported.

The said ordinance aims to lessen firecracker- related injuries and to regulate firecrackers in the province.

Fines and penalties set for those who will be  found violated the “Firecrackers and Pyrotechnic Ordinance” includes the following:
  • a fine of P1,000 or an imprisonment of not more than one month but not less than 20 days or both for first offense; 
  • a fine of P3,000 or an imprisonment of not more than three months but not less than one month or both fine for second offense; and 
  • a fine of P5,000 or an imprisonment of not more than six months but not less than three months or both fine for third offense.
