Seslong Festival 2015 set March 5-16 in Tboli, preparations in full swing

With less than a month to go before the start of Seslong Festival 2015, preparations are now in full swing in the Municipality of Tboli for the said celebration.

Now on its 17th edition, this year's Seslong Festival is slated from March 5 to 16. It is a celebration that portrays the gathering of people in a certain place for various socio-cultural activities such as exchange of goods, merry-making and many others.

According to a report, this year's festival has a total budget amounting to P6 million to be utilized for various events that includes sports activities, pageant, medical mission, cultural presentations and many others.

More local and international tourists are also expected to attend this year's Seslong Festival as there will be national events to be held during the 10-day celebration. These include the 4x4 off-road challenge, motocross, and shooting competitions.

For adventure and outdoor enthusiasts, there will be a fun climb to Lake Holon, one of the country's cleanest inland body of water and a favorite camping destination.

Meanwhile, Rodel Hilado, Municipal Tourism Officer of Tboli, revealed during the launching of Visit Philippines 2015 and #HelloParadise campaign of DOT-12 held in General Santos City on February 5 that they are currently in talks with Pinoy rock band Kamikazee and Bamboo to become this year's guest performer.

The unveiling of the Tboli Monument which is still being constructed at the municipal grounds will also take place during the festival. The said monument was designed by renowned sculpture Kublai Ponce Millan.

Highlight of Seslong Festival is the street dancing competition to be held during the culmination day. It will showcase the Tboli's rich culture and traditions through dances, music and costumes.
