Street dancing highlights Kulitangtang Festival in Tantangan

Street dancers from four secondary schools in their colorful costumes adorned the national highway in Tantangan yesterday, January 27, 2015 as the town marks its 54th Founding Anniversary.

Various activities filled the week-long celebration of the 5th Kulitangtang Festival, which culminated with street dancing, to include drum & lyre competition, motocross, the search for Mutya ng Tantangan, ballroom competition, tribal day, the showcase of the biggest Galapong in town, some sports events, inauguration of the new public terminal and PNP buildings, variety shows, celebrity night and many others.

In his speech during the anniversary program, Mayor Benjamin Figueroa, Jr. congratulated the municipal officials, employees and the people of Tantangan for the successful celebration of the town's 54th Foundation Anniversary and 5th Kulitangtang Festival. He also encouraged the Tantangeños to continue to unite and work together for the progress of their beloved town.

The mayor proudly announced, too, that anytime next month (February), the construction of a children's playground worth P3 million will begin.

Also present during the anniversary program and witnessed the colorful street dancing showdown was South Cotabato Governor Daisy Avance-Fuentes.

Contingent #3 from San Felipe National High School bagged the P30,000 1st Prize of the 5th Kulitangtang Festival Street Dancing Competition. Second placer was contingent #2 from Tantangan National High School, while Tantangan Institute Inc (#1) and Bukay Pait National High School (#4) placed third and fourth, respectively.

“I’m so happy that this year, the Kulitangtang Festival has become more colorful with the conduct of the street dancing competition and I’m so proud to say that Tantangeños are gifted with talents,” said one of the spectators during the event.
