There's no doubt South Cotabato is one of the most beautiful places in the country.. and guess what, two of our destinations here - Lake Sebu and Lake Holon in Tboli, has been shortlisted by Green Destinations as among the 2016 Sustainable Destinations Top 100.
According to its website, Green Destinations is a global partnership for responsible tourism, assisting destinations, regions and countries in improving quality, sustainability and market visibility. The 2016 Sustainable Destinations Top 100 is the follow-up to National Geographic Traveler’s Destination Stewardship surveys (2004-2010) and the 2014 Sustainable Destinations Global Top 100.
According to Nelly Nita N. Dillera, DOT-12 Regional Director, Lake Sebu and Lake Holon in Tboli was chosen among more than 1,000 nominees worldwide. The selection took into consideration the following: (1) Nature & Scenery, (2) Environment & Climate, (3) Culture & Tradition (4) People & Hospitality, and (5) Sustainable Destination Management.
"The Top 100 candidates are destinations that cherish and celebrate their Authenticity, their Biodiversity and nature, their Cultural values, the Destination’s local community and entrepreneurs, and their Environment, for future generations of citizens and travelers."
