Majority of barangay officials in South Cotabato backs reelection bid of Governor Tamayo

Majority of barangay officials in the Province of South Cotabato supports the reelection bid of incumbent Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr.



In a press conference right after Tamayo's team "Boses ng South Cotabato" filed their certificates of candidacy (COC) for the May 2022 polls, the first-termer governor disclosed that atleast 70% of barangay officials  including barangay captains and council members have expressed their support for his reelection bid and his entire slate.

"As of now, we have the support of 129 barangay captains out of 199 barangays of South Cotabato," said Governor Tamayo in a press conference last October 2.

In the first district of South Cotabato, that is composed of the municipalities of Polomolok, Tampakan and Tupi, 92% of barangay captains and 98% of barangay kagawads backs the continuation of "Tama kag Maayo nga Pagpanerbisyo" programs of Governor Tamayo. While 70% of barangay officials in the 2nd district of South Cotabato that comprises the towns of Banga, Lake Sebu, Tboli, Sto. Niño, Norala, Surallah, Tantangan, and Koronadal City have also expressed complete satisfaction of the programs and projects of the present administration.

Tamayo, 41, a former three-term mayor of Tupi town, defeated then-Governor Daisy Avance-Fuentes in the 2019 gubernatorial race by a margin of more than 27,000 votes.
