(Press Release) Tupi, South Cotabato - Two people died and 8 were injured in the latest road accident involving 12 vehicles in the municipality of Tupi at around 5:45 in the evening of September 23, 2022.
The fatalities were father and daughter who were onboard of the motorcycle with top down which was hit by a 10-wheeler truck.
They were identified as Diamalodin Makasaehe , 28 years old, (DOA) and Janaiden Makasaehe , 4 years old who are both declared Dead on Arrival at the hospital while the other passenger of the topdown, Hasnia Makasaehe, 14 years old sustained an injury and was referred to South Cotabato Provincial Hospital for further treatment.
According to Police Investigation, the Isuzu 10-wheeler truck was driven by Albert Zambrano, 26 years old, a resident of Purok Upper Maligaya, Brgy. Poblacion, Tantangan, South Cotabato.
Accordingly, said truck was travelling from General Santos City heading north towards Koronadal City, loaded with one (1) container van more or less 16 tons. Upon reaching at the place of incident, National Highway, Purok 1, Poblacion, Tupi South Cotabato the brake system of said truck malfunctioned and bumped the rear portion of a Suzuki sedan, color red and subsequently hit 10 other vehicles including pedestrians. 
Other drivers and passengers including the pedestrians sustained injuries from the incident and are now being treated in different hospitals.
Meanwhile, the truck driver surrendered to the police and is currently detained at the police station pending the filing of possible criminal complaint.
