Governor Tamayo clarifies misinformation on PFP leadership, labels dissenters as "nuisance group"

South Cotabato Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr. addressed the recent attempt to challenge his leadership within the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP), dismissing it as the work of a "nuisance group." This comes in the wake of upheaval initiated by certain members of the PFP, including the reorganization of the party in a General Assembly held at the Linden Suites in Pasig City.

In a press briefing at the South Cotabato Provincial Capitol, Friday, December 15, Governor Tamayo reaffirmed the stability of the PFP under his leadership, with approximately 97% of officers, including regional chairmen from various regions, expressing their support for his presidency.

Governor Tamayo expressed surprise at the lack of knowledge regarding the general assembly, noting that even Malacañang was unaware of the gathering. He categorically stated that neither he nor Malacañang authorized the assembly, raising questions about the motives behind the move.

"I am wondering because Malacañang called and asked if I was the one who called for the general assembly in PFP. I said no," remarked Governor Tamayo.

He dismissed the dissenting group's actions as a mere nuisance, aimed at tarnishing the party's image. Governor Tamayo suggested that personal interests or unmet expectations might be driving some members to rebel against the party.

Governor Tamayo remains confident in the legitimacy of his leadership, emphasizing the endorsement of national chairman President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. He highlighted that all necessary documents have been submitted to the Commission on Elections (Comelec).

While awaiting formal complaints from dissenting party members to be filed with the Comelec, Governor Tamayo remains optimistic about the continued strength and growth of the PFP.

In response to the reports of his removal, Governor Tamayo issued a statement, asserting his continued presidency within the PFP. He clarified that those behind the challenge were previously removed from their positions due to inactivity and disappointment over not securing government appointments. Governor Tamayo cited a validly authorized resolution from June 2022, empowering him to reorganize the party according to the vision of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.

"It is now time to appoint the new members of PFP, the Governors and Congressmen who have just joined us, to their vacated positions. I wish one and all a Happy Yuletide Season. And let us always wear a mask to protect ourselves because Covid 19 infections are on the rise," Governor Tamayo concluded in his statement.
