The Province of South Cotabato, alongside the municipalities of Tupi and Polomolok, and the City of Koronadal, proudly joins the ranks of the distinguished recipients of the 2023 Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG). The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) unveiled the list of awardees on December 2 and the awarding ceremony was held on Thursday, December 14, acknowledging a total of 493 Local Government Units (LGUs) for their exemplary governance practices.
Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo, Jr., expressed gratitude to the dedicated employees of the provincial government for their unwavering efforts that contributed to South Cotabato's success in attaining the SGLG.
"Talagang naniwala ako na dahil sa maayos na delivery of services talagang makukuha natin ang SGLG," remarked Governor Tamayo.
While celebrating the achievement, Governor Tamayo emphasized the need for continuous hard work and commitment to delivering the best services to the people of South Cotabato to sustain the SGLG recognition in the coming years.
Governor Tamayo also commended the Provincial Engineering Office for its efficiency in project management, noting that all projects slated for 2024 have completed program of works, and 40% have received notices of awards. He announced that construction for these projects is set to commence in the first week of January, aiming to further elevate the province's utilization rate.
The SGLG is a prestigious recognition bestowed upon LGUs exhibiting outstanding performance in various areas such as financial administration, disaster preparedness, social protection, business-friendliness and competitiveness, environmental management, and peace and order. The rigorous evaluation process ensures that awardees meet the stringent standards set by the DILG.
This recognition not only underscores administrative proficiency but also celebrates the collaborative efforts of the communities involved. South Cotabato's commitment to transparency, accountability, and service excellence is highlighted through this accolade, signifying a significant stride towards sustainable development and good governance in the region.
