Former House Deputy Speaker and South Cotabato second district representative Ferdinand Hernandez has officially joined the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP), led by his former political rival, Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr.
Tamayo, who is the national president of the PFP, personally welcomed Hernandez into the party. The oath-taking of Hernandez was held last Saturday, September 21 at the South Cotabato Provincial Capitol.
The political dynamics between the two leaders shifted significantly, as they were rivals during the 2022 gubernatorial race, where Hernandez challenged Tamayo but ultimately lost. Now, both prominent figures are united under the banner of the PFP, signaling a stronger political presence for the party ahead of the 2025 midterm elections.
This alliance is expected to strengthen the political influence of Partido Federal in South Cotabato, adding weight to its preparations for the upcoming elections.
