The South East Asian Institute of Technology (SEAIT) stands as a beacon of hope and opportunity, offering free, quality education to more than 20,000 students from South Cotabato and neighboring provinces, reaching as far as Davao and Zamboanga regions.
Founded in 2006 by Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr. at the young age of 25, SEAIT has since produced thousands of graduates, many of whom came from underprivileged backgrounds and are now thriving in their respective fields. This institution proves that education should be a right, not a privilege, ensuring that no student is left behind due to financial hardship.
Captured through stunning drone shots, the vast SEAIT campus is a testament to its growth and impact. From humble beginnings, it has expanded into a premier educational institution, changing the lives of thousands of young Filipinos who now have access to higher learning without the burden of tuition fees.
"Gusto mo mag-aral? Mag-enroll ka lang sa SEAIT, automatic scholar ka na. Hindi mo na kailangang lumapit pa sa kahit sinong pulitiko," Governor Tamayo reiterates, emphasizing that education should be accessible to all, regardless of social status.
While SEAIT provides free education to all its students, Governor Tamayo clarified that only around 8,000 to 10,000 students are scholars under government-funded programs. The remaining students benefit from the RMT Care Foundation, a family-led initiative that has been instrumental in funding scholarships, along with other private sector partners who believe in the power of education to uplift communities.
Free Education Across South Cotabato
Beyond SEAIT, Governor Tamayo has institutionalized a province-wide free education policy, ensuring that all public elementary and high schools in South Cotabato are tuition-free. Under his leadership, schools are strictly prohibited from collecting any fees from students and parents—eliminating financial barriers that often prevent children from pursuing their studies.
To sustain this initiative, the provincial government has allocated substantial funding to support the operations of public schools in the province’s 10 towns and lone city. These funds are also used to expand South Cotabato’s tertiary scholarship program, providing more opportunities for students to earn a college degree.
Education Without Limits
With SEAIT leading the way and a province-wide free education program in place, South Cotabato continues to set the standard for accessible and inclusive learning. Thanks to Governor Tamayo’s vision and commitment, thousands of students—including those who once thought college was out of reach—now have the chance to pursue their dreams.
