The operation, led by PLT JUANITO T PAPARON JR., Provincial Team Leader of HPG South Cotabato, took place around 1:45 PM along the National Highway in Crossing Dajay, Surallah, South Cotabato.
HPG personnel were conducting an Anti-Carnapping operation and enforcing R.A. No. 4136 (Land Transportation and Traffic Code) when they stopped a Suzuki Dzire sedan for having heavily tinted windows and the driver’s failure to wear a seatbelt.
During inspection, officers discovered five (5) jumbo sachets of suspected shabu hidden inside the vehicle, leading to the immediate arrest of the two occupants for violating Republic Act No. 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).
In a report, HPG's PBGen Matta commended the team's effort and emphasized the importance of highway operations in crime prevention:
“This operation highlights our commitment to keeping our roads safe. The vigilance and swift action of our HPG operatives prevented a possible drug distribution attempt.”
The two suspects are now in the custody of the Surallah Municipal Police Station (MPS) for documentation and filing of charges.
This successful operation higlights HPG South Cotabato’s dedication to law enforcement and highway security. Under PLT Paparon’s leadership, the team continues to combat crime, enforce traffic laws, and ensure public safety on the roads.
The public is encouraged to support HPG’s efforts by following traffic laws, staying vigilant, and reporting suspicious activities to help maintain safer roads for all.
