Under the leadership of Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr., the Provincial Government of South Cotabato ensured the timely completion of this much-needed rehabilitation to provide athletes with a world-class facility for training and competition. A total of P50 million was allocated for the project, reaffirming the province’s strong commitment to sports development and infrastructure enhancement.
Since South Cotabato last hosted the Palarong Pambansa in 1996, this marks the first major rehabilitation of the sports complex, particularly its oval track. This long-overdue upgrade highlights the administration’s dedication to revitalizing sports facilities and ensuring that athletes have access to the best training grounds.
As a co-host of the SRAA Meet 2025, South Cotabato plays a vital role in the success of this prestigious competition, which serves as a qualifying event for athletes vying for a spot in the Palarong Pambansa. The newly upgraded track provides a safer, more durable, and professional-grade playing surface, helping athletes perform at their best.
Thousands of athletes, coaches, and sports enthusiasts from across Soccsksargen are expected to gather in Koronadal City for the week-long tournament, making it one of the most significant sporting events in the region.
Beyond the oval track rehabilitation, other facilities within the South Cotabato Sports Complex are also set for upgrades to further improve the province’s sports infrastructure. In addition, Governor Tamayo has earlier announced the construction of two more sports complexes—one in the Municipality of Tupi (1st District) and another in the Municipality of Surallah (3rd District). These projects aim to expand athletic opportunities and foster sports development across South Cotabato.
This successful rehabilitation serves as a testament to the Provincial Government’s unwavering support for the sports sector. It is not only an investment for today’s athletes but also for the future champions of Soccsksargen. The improved facilities are set to inspire and cultivate excellence in athletics for years to come, ensuring that South Cotabato remains a hub for competitive sports and athletic development.
