The Province of South Cotabato was honored with the Partnership Award from the National Pharmaceutical Foundation Inc. Governor Tamayo's Chief of Staff Alyzza Tolimao at NAPC- Office of the Vice Chairperson for Government Sector received the award for the provincial government of South Cotabato |
The award highlights South Cotabato’s pioneering partnership with NPF, which has ensured a steady supply of affordable and essential medicines in hospitals across the province.
The Health Plus SIS serves as the pharmaceutical arm of NPF, designed to guarantee that hospitals do not run out of essential medicines. Once a hospital pharmacy’s stock is depleted, Health Plus immediately replenishes it, with the provincial government settling the cost afterward. This allows patients to access medicines conveniently and affordably inside the hospital itself.
This innovative arrangement is closely linked to the leadership of Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr., who is widely recognized as the “Father of Cashierless Hospitals.” The partnership with NPF has been central to making his vision a reality- removing the financial barriers that often prevent patients from getting immediate treatment.
South Cotabato’s collaboration with NPF began when Gov. Tamayo was still mayor of Tupi, where he introduced free hospitalization. In 2019, upon becoming governor, he expanded the program province-wide and formalized the partnership with NPF to strengthen health services.
During the awarding ceremony, notable personalities in the health sector, including former Health Secretary Dr. Manuel Dayrit, NPF Chairperson Rev. Joseph Lee, and Dr. Maria Cecilia Feralin, lauded South Cotabato’s commitment to accessible healthcare.
The Partnership Award serves as a recognition not only of the province’s successful health programs but also of Gov. Tamayo’s vision to build a compassionate, innovative, and sustainable healthcare system that places patients first.
