South Cotabato Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr., who also serves as President of the League of Provinces of the Philippines (LPP), has called for strict accountability in the alleged corruption involving flood control projects nationwide.
Tamayo expressed his full support for the ongoing investigation into the anomalies, stressing that those proven guilty must face consequences. He noted that several names have already surfaced as allegedly linked to the irregularities.
“The issue is not only about overpriced contracts,” Tamayo pointed out. “We are also seeing so-called ghost projects — projects that have been paid for but never built. This is unacceptable and must be stopped.”
As President of the Governor's League, Gov. Tamayo emphasized that the fight against corruption is crucial to protecting public funds and ensuring that government projects genuinely serve the people. He also highlighted President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s commitment to stamping out corruption, saying those involved must be punished to set a clear example.
The governor expressed hope that the ongoing probe will lead to concrete actions and strengthen the government’s overall campaign for transparency and good governance.
