South Cotabato Sends Relief Team to Davao Oriental Less Than 24 Hours After Magnitude 7.6 Earthquake

Demonstrating swift action and solidarity, the Provincial Government of South Cotabato, through the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), has dispatched a relief and response team to Davao Oriental less than 24 hours after a magnitude 7.6 earthquake struck off the province’s eastern coast on Friday morning.

In a video message, Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr. announced that the team left South Cotabato at around 3:00 a.m. today, carrying food packs, bottled water, and other essential supplies for families affected by the powerful quake.

Governor Tamayo commended the PDRRMO and partner offices for their immediate mobilization, saying the quick response reflects the true essence of “Tama at Maayos na Serbisyo” — a brand of leadership that prioritizes compassion, readiness, and action.

"We are always ready to help whenever and wherever our assistance is needed. The spirit of bayanihan among South Cotabateños remains strong — we stand with our brothers and sisters in Davao Oriental," Governor Tamayo said.

The South Cotabato PDRRMO continues to coordinate with local disaster officials in Davao Oriental to ensure the safe and efficient delivery of assistance to affected communities.
