SOCCSKSARGEN Bloggers at the 12th Hinugyaw Festival and Piyesta Korona

Invited by the City LGU of Koronadal, six members of the funnest group of bloggers in Mindanao- the Soccsksargen Bloggers attended the 12th Hinugyaw Festival in Koronadal City last January 10, 2012 to witnessed the activities lined up during the culmination day of the 12th Hinugyaw Festival which is also in line with the 72nd Foundation Anniversary of Koronadal.

Headed by the group's founder Avel Manansala of GenSantos.Com, the bloggers celebrated with the locals and witnessed at around 6:30am the civic parade at the city's major streets, the open drumline competition at the South Cotabato Sports Complex which is participated by different elementary and high schools in the province and the Hinugyaw Piyesta Korona which started at 5pm.

Piyesta Korona a mix of street dancing and mardi gras was the festival's main highlight, it is an open competition with three different categories, all presentation centers on crowns or korona. An estimated crowd of more than 50,000 locals and visitors flocked at the main streets of Koronadal to celebrate as colorful crowns or korona's of different sizes flooded the streets worn by 9 street dancing contingents from all over the region and 30 mardi gras participants, there were also floats for the crown kings and queens.

The group was also able to meet and had a short discussion with Koronadal City Mayor Peter B. Miguel, according to him the Piyesta Korona is a move towards giving the festival in the city an identity of it's own.

A grand fireworks display which lasted about 15 minutes and a foam party and disco sa kalye along Alunan Avenue and Gensan Drive cap off the 12th Hinugyaw Festival and Piyesta Korona.
