Koronadal boy Yancy Trinidad ready to conquer the international fashion scene

Yancy Trinidad, a small town boy from Koronadal, South Cotabato in Southern Philippines, used to believe that in the future he will make ripples in the international fashion scene. The future is now as the hardworking lad is in fact already making waves overseas as a fashion events specialist.

Yancy, hailed as pride of the City for his feats, started his career in fashion and lifestyle events organizing in Manila. Even as a starter then, he has successfully handled top events in the industry.

He has under his name the successful project launchings of top brands such as Facebook, Forever21, Magnum Ice Cream, Sofitel and Calvin Klein among others.

In an interview, the international fashion show director said he did not expect the realization of his dreams could be this fast. “I just worked with much passion and love to my craft. That’s my secret. I guess that’s why it was easier for the Universe to arrange things for me,” he said.

In Metro Manila, Yancy Trinidad is the name trusted by fashion designers like Pia Gladys Perey, Ryan Madamba and Albert Andrada for their runway shows.

But he didn’t get to the top in just a snap of a finger. “I started as a talent coordinator and stage manager before working my way to becoming the event manager and event director for top events,” he recalled.

Early in his career, Yancy worked under the care of Robby Carmona, a respected executive in the industry whose events company, the SAGA Events, has handled some of the biggest fashion shows in the country.

Yancy and his team with SAGA was able to pull off big events projects around South East Asia such as the Miss Earth 2010 pageant in Vietnam and Malaysia International Fashion Week in 2011. “My Miss Earth and IFW milestones taught me a lot about handling international events.”

Later on, Yancy and his boss Robby, this time as the National Director for Fashion Asia-Philippines, became partners in selecting Filipino top talents in fashion to represent the country in China for Fashion Asia Awards 2013 in Chengdu, and 2014 in Chongqing.

Remember the much-hyped Balesin wedding of power couple Senator Francis Joseph "Chiz" Escudero and showbiz sweetheart Heart Evangelista? Yancy directed the said grand event!

In 2015, Yancy left the comfort of his second home in the Metro for Central Saint Martins in London to further build his arsenal in events management.

Seven lucky years and countless big local and international events has proven how dedicated and primed this fashion visionary is. Bigger responsibilities is yet to come but for Yancy, “I am even more excited to take on bigger things. That’s how I was brought up from where I came from. That is how I was trained by all my experiences all these years!” (Louie Pacardo)
