LONG-STANDING CONFLICT BETWEEN DOLEFIL AND INDIGENOUS TRIBES RESOLVED THROUGH GOV. TAMAYO’S MEDIATION

A decades-long land conflict between Dole Philippines Inc. (Dolefil) and indigenous tribes in South Cotabato has finally been resolved, thanks to a successful dialogue led by Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr. this past Saturday at his residence.

Governor Tamayo shared the good news on his Facebook page, highlighting the swift and productive talks that led to an agreement between the two parties. In just a few minutes of discussion, both sides agreed to end the conflict and grant the long-pursued rights and benefits to the indigenous communities.

“Napagkasunduan nila na tapusin na ang mga conflict na meron sila, at ’yung mga ipinaglalaban ng tribu for how many decades na ay naibigay na rin sa kanila,” said Governor Tamayo.

The governor emphasized that this success demonstrates the power of open and honest communication.

One of the key agreements reached is the restoration of Dolefil’s community-based approach, which ensures that the company’s programs and operations remain inclusive, consultative, and sensitive to the needs and rights of indigenous communities.

The tribes expressed their heartfelt gratitude for the governor’s guidance and support. Francisco Gulada, one of the indigenous leaders, shared:
Salamat Sayo gov. Ginagamit ka nag ating poong may kapal. God bless po,”

Governor Tamayo also commended both Dolefil and the indigenous tribes for their cooperation and commitment to peace and progress.

This agreement opens a new chapter of improved relations between the company and the communities, ensuring lasting peace, collaboration, and sustainable development in South Cotabato.
