SM City General Santos is this year's recipient of the Outstanding Regional Partner for Coin Recirculation Program Award given by Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP). The awarding ceremony was held last July 24, 2018 at Greenleaf Hotel in General Santos City.
The event, which is now on its 15th year, is BSP’s way of expressing gratitude to stakeholders who have continuously supported their statistical undertakings, information needs, and advocacy programs as well as to the effective delivery of the BSP’s functions.
Last December 9, 2017 SM City General Santos supported Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas in its objective to collect idle coins kept by the public, particularly the lower denomination coins. The mall helped promote the activity and provided a booth space for the setup of a “Coin Exchange Counter” manned by BSP personnel. It was a successful partnership between SM City General Santos and Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Gensan Branch.
Aside from the coin recirculation activity, SM City General Santos is also consistent in supporting Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas in their information drive by inviting tenants for orientations about the new generation currency.
